Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year at Footprints International School. For the 2nd year, we will be including monthly blogs from the FIS team on the school website. The goal of this blog is to cover a range of topics to provide information to parents about what is happening at FIS. We hope that you check-in regularly.
Numerous studies show that parental involvement is a key indicator of a child’s success in school. Parent support and encouragement has been a significant part of the growth of FIS. This school year, as Executive Director, I will work with families and FIS staff to create monthly opportunities for parents to be involved in their child’s education. Below you will find school events that you can be involved in your child’s education during the first two months of the year.
Date/Time: Saturday, August 26 at 10 am
Locations: Secondary campus, BKK campus, Toul Kork Campus
*Parents can choose the location that is most convenient for them.
Back to School Night-
Date/Time: Friday, September 29 from 5 to 6 pm
Locations: All campuses
*Parents are invited to meet their child’s teacher, visit their child’s classroom, and learn more about what their child will be learning this school year.
Parent involvement is not limited to schoolwide events. You can also:
Encourage responsibility and routines. Create structures and routines at home to get your child ready for school. Encourage healthy snacks and meals, an early bedtime, and a morning routine that promotes good attendance by getting your child to school on time.
Talk to your child about school. Set goals for the new school year with your child. Brainstorm ways that you can support your child in achieving these goals. Ask your child:
What subjects are you most interested in?
What do you hope to learn this year?
What are your goals for the school year?
What ways can I help you achieve these goals?
Communicate with your child’s teacher.
Read and respond in the communication book for Early Childhood Grades, communicate through Class Dojo for Primary Grades and connect with your child’s teacher through Schoology for Secondary classes. We are happy to provide translation, if needed.
Get to know the curriculum. Review the school website to learn more about the school curriculum at FIS. Ask your child what they are learning at school. This helps your child know that you are invested in their education.
I want to thank you for choosing Footprints International School and we look forward to continuing to build a strong home-school partnership.
We want to hear from you! What other ideas do you have to support your child’s education and promote success in school?
